This may very well be the most in depth, wild proposal I have ever had the privilege of capturing. It started in the snowy mountains of Leavenworth, Washington, and ended in Maui, only 3 days later. Sounds incredible, right?
When David fell in love with Alexandra, as one of his closest female friends, I got the full glory of his gushy mushy outpouring of smitten poetry. He waxed eloquent of her beauty, her amazing personality, and man, was he ready to marry her. But as we schemed the proposal, he began to realize he didn't want to just propose, he wanted to completely blow her away. The more he planned, the more blown away *I* was. David seriously put so much time and energy into ensuring this was the most incredible experience, and Alexandra was absolutely worthy of it.
How'd it go? Well, let's start at the beginning.
David took Alex to Leavenworth, Washington, a Bavarian-themed town framed by towering mountains, completely buried in snow. Once we got there, we had to meet up with Sarah and Chara, two of Alexandra's best friends, and co-conspirators in the EPIC proposal planning process, and then drive up to the ranch where David would ultimately ask Alexandra to be his wife after taking her on a gorgeously scenic, horse-drawn sleigh ride.
By the time we got there, I didn't have time to do much more than SPRINT across a field with snow almost up to my knees, in order to get into position before it was time. LO AND BEHOLD, they were already at the ranch, and David was stalling his beautiful girlfriend and steering her to look at random things while we snuck by, hiding our cameras under our coats.
Finally, we got into position, and he handed her a stunning album full of pictures and words of love to express how incredible their journey had been.
After she was done reading the album, she turned around to see.....
This is her face when she realized we were there--truth be told, I had friended her months ago (part of being a loyal friend is stalking their new girlfriend, and then her and I became super freaking close) but we had never met, so we were both PUMPED to finally meet each other face to face.
This is where all the planning and conspiring and months of talks come in to play.
This is when Alex opened the card, already overwhelmed. And then she read the card. It was an invitation--to their wedding.
You know, their wedding that was happening in 3 days in Maui, Hawaii.
We did a brief engagement shoot (because we were freezing, it was getting dark, and they had SO MUCH TO DO) and then headed off to Seattle to help Alex pack. The next morning, a Limo picked us up, whisked us off to the airport, and we landed in Maui in what seemed like a blink of an eye.

There was some amazing moments from this day that I'll never forget. Helping Alex get ready, the smell of every exotic flower filling the air, listening to the waves crash in, and the moment when David saw her for the first time....it was an intimate, spiritual ceremony full of so much beauty, smiles, and tears. SO many tears. It was amazing.
Gah. This was an incredible wedding. A very special thanks to Chara Juneau for assisting with this wedding, and to the amazing Pastor Robroy Ranger, and his wife Jackie for not just guiding David and Alex on their journey, but keeping us laughing and on course the whole trip.
